Labern Isley was born 1828 in Orange County, NC and moved with his family to Rockingham County. He was the son of William and Sally Isley. He was married to Frances Godsey on 25 September 1851. He was a private in the 45th North Carolina Regiment called the Troublesome Creek Boys. He enlisted in Rockingham County on March 3, 1863 and was present and accounted for until his death at Cold Harbor, Virginia on June 2, 1864.
