Educational Resources for Teachers

The North Carolina History Center on the Civil War, Emancipation & Reconstruction serves as a valuable resource for educators in North Carolina by offering a variety of elements to pull from. It specifically supports local teachers with direct access to content on significant subjects like the Homefront, the battles, and enslaved lives. Along with full lectures from esteemed scholars, the site provides links to lesson plans and teaching tools aimed at enhancing student learning.

Teacher Symposia 

The North Carolina History Center on the Civil War, Emancipation & Reconstruction has organized many teacher symposia throughout the state, spanning from the mountains to the Piedmont, and from the Sandhills to the coast. The center has made a concerted effort to reach each DPI region in the state, aiming to support local history teachers by providing the necessary resources for teaching this significant era.
