Soldier Left Reminders of His War Years

Daniel J. Allen served the Confederacy in the 3rd Regiment, North Carolina Artillery. Pvt. Allen was captured on Jan. 15, 1865. He was sent to Elmira N.Y., was released, and signed the Oath of Allegiance on Aug. 7, 1865. We have in our possession this original document, a pistol, and a rifle that belonged to Daniel, presumably used in battle.
