Submit Your Story

Thank you for sharing your story with the North Carolina Civil War & Reconstruction History Center! Its inclusion will add value to the History Center’s collection of stories from all 100 North Carolina counties. Your story will also advance the History Center’s core mission: to promote understanding of the Antebellum, Civil War, and Reconstruction periods through the lives, words, and work of North Carolinians from all walks of life. As parts of that larger story, submissions are subject to editing for clarity–including spelling, grammar, and syntax–and to vetting for accuracy (dates, for example). There is nothing tasteful about war, but your story should be presented without adding unnecessary offense or insult to readers. Any language borrowed from other published, broadcast, or copyrighted material must be clearly attributed to its source.

Story submission entitles you to one year’s free membership in the History Center, and you’ll receive periodic updates on our progress by email.
