Pinkney H. Warren resided in Buncombe County, North Carolina where he, at age nineteen, enlisted in the Confederate Army on July 22, 1861. He was mustered in as a Private, serving in Company I of the 25th Regiment, NC Troops. On April 28, 1862, Warren was promoted to Corporal, then, in 1864, he was promoted to Sergeant. He was counted as “Present or accounted for” until he was wounded in the right shoulder at or near Fort Stedman, Virginia on March 25, 1865. He was transferred to an unspecified hospital the next day.

North Carolina pension records indicate that Warren survived the War. He did return to Buncombe County in North Carolina and farmed the rest of his life.
