Alpheus Branch was born 1843 in Halifax County. He was the son of Samuel and Mary Branch. He enlisted in Company I, North Carolina 1st Infantry Regiment on 11 Jul 1861. He was mustered out on 12 Nov 1861. He then enlisted in Company G, North Carolina 3rd Cavalry Regiment on 06 May 1862. He was present and accounted for throughout the war. He married Nancy Barnes on 7 November 1865 in Wilson, NC. He was a successful business man in Wilson, starting Branch Banking and Trust. He died in 1893 in Wilson, NC.
